In Krita, it's possible to create a new document from an image in the clipboard. This means you can copy an image and paste as a new file, or take a screenshot that gets stored as an image in your clipboard and paste it as a new file. To do this, follow the following steps:
copy what you want to paste.
in Krita, click on File -> New... on the menubar. This opens the Create new document dialog box.
this dialog box has a list-detail layout. In the list pane, select Create from Clipboard. The detail pane should change and automatically set the width and height to the dimensions of the image in the clipboard.
click OK to create a new document. It will have the image pasted from the clipboard automatically.
