OP

What is OP?

OP stands for "original post" or "original poster." It's an acronym commonly found on social media that has threads and comments, like Reddit and Imgur. It refers to the post that started the thread, i.e. the thread itself, or the user who posted it.

In a comment that is a reply to another comment, which itself is a reply to another comment, OP may also refer to a user who posted a comment.

In a post that cross-posts another post, or is a screenshot of a post, specially from other social media, OP may refer to the user who posted the thread, or the user who posted the cross-posted post. In some cases, OOP ("original original poster") is used to distinguish one from the other.
