File Permissions

Permissions set on files and folders that can allow or deny users to access certain files in a computer via programs running in an operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.), such as forbidding a user from read or open files, modify, edit or overwrite files, rename files, delete files, or create files.
Directory

A thing that lists or indexes other things. A folder (lists files).
Units of Measurement

Bits, bytes, pixels, hertz, kilo, mega, giga, tera, kebi, mebi, gibi, tebi, and others.
File Manager

A type of application that can move, rename, copy, delete, and list files and folders in the computer, and navigate through the hierarchy of folders.
File Extension

The part of a file's filename after the last dot character (.), e.g. .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp, .webp, .webm, .txt, .doc, .psd, .avi, .mp4, .mp3, .wav, etc.
Filename

The name a file has inside its folder. The last part of a filepath, after the slashes.
Filepath

A text code like C:\folder\photo.jpg that identifies the location of a file in your computer.
