What is "Background Color" in an Application?
The background color (abbreviated BG Color) is one of the two colors that can be configured in various image-editing applications, the other being the foreground color. The term is also used to refer to which color should be used to fill an area behind everything in general.
The background color is the "default" color when there is nothing to display in an area. For example, when the pixels are fully transparent, the background color is used instead. When a selected area of an image is moved, a "hole" is left behind that is filled with the background color. When the canvas is resized so it's larger than the image, the new "blank" area is filled with the background color. In some cases, the background color is used as the filling color of geometric figures (rectangle, circle, etc.), while the foreground color is used for the stroke color.
