What is a Profile in the Computer?
The term profile has various meanings in the computer:
- An identity which a human user uses to interact with other users in a social media website, forum, or other online community. Generally means the same thing as an account, although some websites allow a single account to hold multiple profiles. The user's posts, avatar, bio, and other information would be associated with their profile.
- A profile page, a webpage or equivalent that displays information about an user's profile in a social media website, forum, or other online community, generally including their latest posts.
- A set of settings that can be saved and applied at once in an application, specially to customize the user interface or to change authorship information.
- A color profile of a camera, image, or video, which determiners the actual color of the pixels.
