One thing I don't like about the internet nowadays are emojis: tiny face icons that people can write into their messages.
For some reason, I prefer :) and :( to the emojis I see around. I kept wondering what could be reason for this and today I think I've finally come to a conclusion.
They look ugly.
They are just, simply, plainly put, aesthetically displeasing. There's no other way to describe this. Many emoji faces look like they're either mocking you or being over melodramatic. It's just a sore to the eyes.
What made me realize this was looking at old emojis used in internet forums before emojis became standardized. They're still emojis but they look better in my opinion.
If you are like me, then maybe it's not the idea of emoji that you think is bad. Maybe it's just the emoji we have today that look very ugly for us.
